The internet has
given the public an unprecedented experiment in communicating with
neighbors far and worldwide since its inception, and it has given
anyone with access an unbelievable ability to find specific
knowledge, people, or items at their whimsy.
Ironically, the time we spend discovering specific information from the
four corners of the earth, may have us spending less time
with the vast general resources of our own backyard. Unfortunately,
many of us do not know the name of the newspaper only two counties
away, and will not be able to find their online classifieds or
community bulletin boards. Localmarket.org, I hope, is memorable enough
for anyone in any zip code.
It is our hope that the evolution of localmarket.org will return some
of that focus back home, help us to connect and benefit our
geographically "close" neighbors, have fun, allow people to feel and do
good by contributing proceeds to a local sponsoring not-for-profit
organization, and even make enough profit for us and our friends to buy
some of the stuff we see come through here.
A win-win, win-win-win situation is what we are shooting for, and I
think we are close to it with this simple little concept.
Most of this site can be enjoyed for free, and by using as little or as
much information as you wish to offer. Have fun in good taste....
Sincerely,
Localmarket.org
P.S. If you have a suggestion or some information you want on your
local site...send as a note in the "suggest a link" area, we will
always consider and value your input. Thanks !
